Avail / (Young) Pioneers "Split"

Lookout 189

Avail deliver two trademark anthems in the form of "New #2" and "Lombardy St" Always rocking, always essential. The boys are backed by their Richmond VA neighbors in the form of folk punk rock heroes the (Young) Pioneers. Fresh from the "On Trial" 7", these energetic fellows crank out three marching punk beauties. Seven inches of vinyl that is bound to get you ready for battle.

The (Young) Pioneers "Free The (Young) Pioneers"

Lookout 206

One of the best punk records released in 1998. The (Young) Pioneers' had a unique ragged musical style, that fuses hardcore ferocity to blues, folk and gospel sensibilities.  This fiercely original brand of songwriting was powerfully pounded out by Adam (Born Against), Marty Violence and Fred in supertight arrangements. Includes their gorgeous anthem, "We Ain't Even Married," Curtis Mayfield's "Meeting Over Yonder," and (Impatient) Youth's "Praise The Lord And Pass The Ammunition."

The (Young) Pioneers "On Trial"

Lookout 179

Lookout Records encountered Richmond, VA's The (Young) Pioneers -  one of the most exciting, though underrated, revolutionary rock'n'roll outfits in existence of their time - in 1995 and released "On Trial" as well as an excellent follow-up LP. With strong political ideas and personal sentiment and powerful music. The (Young) Pioneers were led by the guitar growl and voice of Adam Nathanson (Born Against, Life's Blood) with the mighty rhythm section of Marty on bass and Brooks (Universal Order Of Armageddon, Wrangler Brutes, ) on drums. 9 Songs.
